Project Background

The National Ag Science Center is the result of a half-century of work by Central Valley agricultural pioneers who have a vision to create a place to celebrate, educate and inform about California’s number one industry: agriculture.

LORD Cultural Resources, the world’s largest museum planning firm, was retained by the board of directors to prepare a business plan and feasibility study for the project. The resulting report recommended attendance projections, operational budgets and site recommendations based on the new mission as an interactive science center.

The Center will also demonstrate how agriculture helps the environment through sustainable practices beginning with its building, which will be LEED Green Building Certified. Its green building will integrate energy conservation and raise environmental awareness among all visitors as well as through its educational offerings, exhibits and curriculum.
